Our Plumbing Program consists of the following areas:

  • Inspection, by permit, of installation of all residential and commercial plumbing and medical gas systems.
  • Registration of plumbing contractors. Contact our office at 330-723-9523 or email us at [email protected] for plumbing contractor registration information and forms.

Plumbing:

Plumbing system installation inspections are made when plumbing systems are installed in all new homes or businesses in Medina County, or when plumbing systems are altered in existing homes or businesses. A permit to do such plumbing work is required to be obtained from our department. A registered plumbing contractor will determine the number of fixtures needed and will obtain a permit based on this information. For installation work involving businesses, one set in PDF format of architectural drawings are required to be submitted along with a plan review fee and a plan review application. Although homeowners can obtain permits to do their own plumbing installations, it has been our experience that with all of the detailed code requirements, it is often best to hire an experienced plumber.

Medical Gas:

All medical gas installations intended for human consumption or use must be inspected for compliance to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 99C. This includes but is not limited to: hospitals, emergency rooms, dental offices and satellite surgery centers. Veterinarian offices do not apply.

All installers of medical gas must be American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) 6010 certified and have their certification card available for the inspector to view at the job site. Installer must be on site for inspection. When submitting a plumbing application for medical gas you must submit a copy of the certification card holder for the company.

Plumbing Contractors:

Registration of plumbing contractors is done annually. Please contact our office at (330) 723-9523 to obtain a current list of plumbing contractors registered with our county or a plumbing registration application. Please note that plumbers who wish to register must also submit a copy of their current state license with their application.
