The Health Department annually licenses and inspects all public pools, spas, and special-use pools in Medina County at locations such as community parks, golf courses, housing developments, hotels and motels, apartment complexes, and campgrounds. Our inspectors look at the facility’s overall sanitation and safety to assure compliance with the State swimming pool code. Inspection criteria include checks of: water quality (pH, disinfectant levels, total alkalinity, clarity, temperature), weekly operational records, lifeguard records, if applicable, chemical storage, pump and filter equipment, test kits, and safety equipment (first aid kits, reach pole, ring buoy, telephone).

All of our inspection records are “public records” and are available to the public during our regular business hours. Although walk-in requests are welcomed, if possible, it is best to call first to see if a pool program inspector is available to help answer any questions that may arise during review of the records. There is a nominal fee for copies made.
