Every year, National Employee Wellness Month is celebrated throughout the month of June. The National Employee Wellness Month provides an opportunity for employers and organizations to enhance existing wellness programs and encourage their employees to adopt proactive strategies for improved physical, mental and emotional wellbeing in the workplace.

As an employer, you can help improve the health of your employees and create healthier communities by promoting health and wellness in your workplace and surrounding community. On average, Americans who work full-time spend nearly 8 hours a day at their worksite. Employers are in a unique position to promote wellness and potentially affect the health of millions of working adults.

Worksite wellness programs can also:

  • Increase employee productivity.
  • Reduce absenteeism.
  • Increase employee morale.
  • Help you attract and keep high-quality employees.

What can you do?

  • Download the free Know Your Numbers toolkit.
  • Share information with your employees.
  • Encourage employees and their family members to see a healthcare provider so they will know their numbers.
  • Seek out additional information.

Leadership Medina County Signature Class of 2023 worked with the Living Well Medina County Coalition and the Medina County Health Department to develop the Know Your Numbers toolkit for use by employers. It includes information about the importance of employees and their families knowing their blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and blood sugar (glucose) numbers.

For each number, the toolkit has a fact sheet and four weekly email/social media facts to send to your staff. Let your employees know that you care about their health and wellbeing. All of these items, as well as an overall brochure, can be downloaded for free from www.medinahealth.org/KnowYourNumbers
