Keys to Stay Safe During an Emergency

Make a Plan

  • Create an evacuation plan ahead of time for when local emergencies occur.
  • Use the ready.gov Plan Form to create a user-friendly emergency plan. This plan is not saved, stored, or shared by any government agency and can easily be emailed to you once complete.
  • Businesses can also take steps to plan and prepare for an emergency.

Build a Kit

  • Being prepared means having your own food, water, and other supplies to last for several days. An emergency supply list is available to help you build your kit.
  • For any pets, prepare for them as well by building a kit to meet their essential needs.

Be Informed

  • Medina County residents can sign up to be notified of emergency situations through our mass notification system (Wireless Emergency Notification System – WENS). WENS delivers quick messages and instructions for action to the public via phone call, text message, and email based on the contact information you provide.
  • If you need to shelter in place for any reason such as a chemical spill, storm, or earthquake, follow recommendations from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Visit ready.gov for more information and guidance on preparing for an emergency.
